  • Jen in 1.4 says it exactly right in her(his?) first paragraph. Pawlenty has taken a page from the playbook of those ultra successful presidential candidates, Trump and Palin, and decided to say anything negative that he can come up with- the more snarky the better- about Pres.

  • Snowe, Collins and Scott have previously shown themselves to be fairly independent republicans and from states whose constituents are socially liberal leaning, even if fiscally conservative, so I don't think their constitutents want them thrown under the bus, even if Free Mason does.
